Session Start: Thu Dec 20 20:45:12 2001 * Logging #whosim to 'hogwarts1_20011220.txt' 5hey, finally someone arrives Hi there, Alex? 5I've so got to get the conversion between WA time and EST!!! Well, 12 minutes to 9 here. And this crew has been known to slowly gather. Yeah, I thought it was 12 hours rather than 13 hours behind, it's about quarter to 10 here AM? It's Friday there? yup Wow, you get Christmas a day before we do. Or a night before. hehe that we do! So what's Santa gonna bring you this year? Or do you call him something else? hopefully the first three Harry Potter books in hardback and lord of the rings!! LOL. I asked for that too. gotta try to read LOR before I see the movie But I'll settle for one Harry Potter book. I coulda had the train too. :( mmm sounds fun Yeah, it's a nice little electric train. But I mistakenly thought I could get it elsewhere for less. Have you seen Harry Potter yet? bummer. 've still gotta get pressies for my dad and a few other ppl. Yup, a week or so ago I pretty much bought out the place. Toys mostly. I have 7 nieces and nephews. Gotta go shopping with my dad tomorrow. And we still have a tree to put up. that too, but we have a tree so it's just a matter of breaking out the tinsel Fresh or artificial? fresh, got covered in sap for my troubles LOL. That's Christmas for ya. So what are your usual holiday traditions? mm and then there's the joy of getting it down Family pressies in the morning and relative/friend lunch in the arvo. Between family pressies and ppl arriving mum and I tend to become somewhat homocidal towards each other how bout you? Well, Christmas and chaos do both begin with "ch", I've noticed. *G* Chaos with a capital C!! My sis and her family (hubby and 2 boys) are driving out to stay with us Sunday night. Christmas Eve and morning with them. Mass on Xmas Eve with my folks. Breakfast xmas morn, siblings and their families xmas come in the afternoon, staying to whenever. Lots o' presents, sweets, confusion and the usual. fun!! how old R the boys? This year I'm trying to arrange some surprises for my folks. Their 40th wedding anniversary is in Feb. But one brother is being real hard-headed. Giving me a headache. always the way 2 and 7 months. Babies still. My other brother's kids are 4, 3, 2, and 9 mos. as long as the 7 month old hasn't got crawling down yet! 2 year olds can be a pain too, forever into everything The hard headed one has a baby girl of 1. good age Yup. And the 2 year olds, both boys, are my godsons and the biters of the family. The 9 month old is crawling. I'm not sure about the 7 month old. But he's huge. lovely. I think kids and chaos goes together well! At that age they seem to be, chubby and all All told, I think we have 16 people at our house xmas day. We'll need lots of tylenol. yikes, we have about 8 I think and that's a shocker It used to be so much fun. Just us 4 kids, my folks and my nana. My sibs and I keep trying to relive those xmases, but our family is getting very large. just a bit *** Dr10 has joined #whosim *poof* *** TheBrig has joined #whosim *** ChanServ sets mode: +o TheBrig Last year my sister gave the dog a chew-bone, then the kids fought with him over it. He barked and got the blame. Had to be banished to the cold outside. *** TheBrig sets mode: +o Dr10 Hi Tuna! Hi COdy! The invasion has begun. Poor puppy How all Hi all Hello Jen. ::winks:: We were just trading xmas stories. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment. So how are you both doing on your plans? TY Tuna my sister went by the post office today to pick up a package, it was the DW books you sent Awe, that was nice Tuna! I always have a very low key Christmas. I am kind of an anti-holiday person, but love to celebrate the everyday. Hpapy Unbirthday kind of stuff. lol or appropoe for tonight Deathday I hope you enjoy them. Send them back and I'll send a new box. Can't beat a deal like that 8-D Another happy undead day! You are an unconventional sort, T. That's what I love about you. What are your plans Cody? It is simply too simple and boring to be too conventional. I try and avoid the hype. Dinner at my sister's and football on TV College? yep Cool. I'm going to the game this Sunday. Hopefully we do better than last week. I solved that by not having any broadcast tv in my house. No more feetsball. You don't like football, T? Would rather watch John Wayne movies myself but when a guest... I watched a lot of sports for a long time and then one day I realized that it was a huge waste of time, that I wasn't accomplishing anything and was not a better person for all that time. So, I stopped, and it really has opened up lots of time to do more interesting and productive things. Ultimately, watching sports can be a bit too passive, although I love going to love games, lots of fun, very involving. I mean live games, not love games. depends on the sport lol Hey, just to let you all know... today is David's birthday. Wowie! Happy actual Birthday to that young man. aww, it must be horrible to have a birthday so close to Christmas mix of B'day and chrissie presents, or one pressie classed as b'day and chrissie! So many "combo" presents Sorry, just talking to David's mom. David's getting her prescription. Will be back shortly. Well, something to mention on the DW front. ? I am concerned that some of my VHS tapes will age and I will lose access to my DW stories which I still enjoy watching. Sorry, I'm back now. And yeah the combined birthday Christmas is lousy, but I expect you get used to it. get them retaped Yup. I have 2 copies of most eps. Still DVD releases would be nice. good idea the dvd's are rather limited 'So, I have started converting them to something called VCDs which I can proceess on my computer, burn on my cd burner, and play on my DVD player, using CD-R media costing about 50 cents I can get up to 60 minues ot full motion full screen video. Now that's the idea, T. wow I digitize my favorites too. Really? How do you watch them, Jen? Haven't converted to VCD, but I have them as mpegs on my desktop. I watch them there. I can always output to vhs when I want. Wow! How can I get access to them? Can you upload them to my website? I have been taken compressed eps on the road with me to watch via my handheld. Too big and I'm still on dialup. When I get cablemodem I'll send you some. Yeah, right. How about on a CD? I can send you some MPEG files on CD in exchange. Sure. Only thing is 50 minutes is about 500 megs in mpeg. It may take 2 cds for one ep, unless I compress a bit. *** Dr10 has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving) Strange I know but I sort of enjoy some of the old faded color DW3 episodes it's like when I listen to old lp's instead of cd's I have to play with it. I have been making quartsize compressed videos for handheld at 40 megs for 40 min. *** Dr10 has joined #whosim WB Rehi Tuna. *** TheBrig sets mode: +o Dr10 It has that nostalgic feel. the bigger the file the better the quality tends to be True, especially for video. Yo. Gotta be careful of pushing those buttons. *G* lol One thing I've been doing lately is digitizing the Big Finish audios. Then I can play them at will or take them on the road. I am putting about 50 minutes into about 500 MB. It takes that much for high quality video. I download the BFAs now and put em on a CD, way too expensive otherwise Perfect for a CD, so it takes 2 for most stories. Since I want to take my video on my handheld I found ways of compressing that down to 40 megs. Something simple enough for even me to understannd is to put them on Real Jukebox and play them back Does Real Jukebox have cd burning too? Well, Cody, I can send you some files if you are interested. The VCDs play in any computer, Mac or PC. no, but it records and you can personalise playlists I have all this interesting DW stuff and I love to share it. And just think... in a few months you'll be able to get affordable dvd burners too. fantastic Tuna you continue to prove why you are perfect to play the Doctor :-) You really need MusicMatch Cody. That lets you rip and burn. Very handy. *** AlxKeegan has joined #whosim *** TheBrig sets mode: +o AlxKeegan Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy birthday dear David, Happy Birthday to you Happy birthday to you... thank you thank you And don't forget... how old are you know...? ;) I collected different DW midis and made a playlist that I sometimes use while simming ~I'll never...tell~ So, we were all wondering, how sucky is it to get combo xmas/b-day presents? not sucky at all, I'm just hard to shop for Speaking of, did you get my packages yet? ::Pats David on the back::: Congratulations my good man. so far as I know, just your mom's package, but I didn't have a chance to check the mail today, mailed them from the mall thanks Tuna:-) Tell me what you think when you do. Here's a hint, there's 2. One may not get to you until Monday though. Keeping my fingers crossed. have we done a CASTING CALL yet? No, I was just thinking of that. I've reached the point where having another Birthday is good just because it beats the alternative ;-) and I'm hoping you'll get your package by monday, Jen, not sure though <=========Eos <==== Harry Potter (I suppose) <====Hermione <=== The Doctor <> I'm with you Cody. <======== Fearful Fred? < <> <> I did see the movie.
