Background

WHAT HAS GONE BEFORE:
Over a year ago in normal space-time, the Universe endured the worst tragedy it ever forgot. In the supernova explosion of Odin's Eye the Doctor died.  Upon returning to this Universe, the Doctor has found everything far from how he left it. Worlds are being oppressed and it is all the blame of his people. The so-called Central Authority controls all interstellar and intratemporal traffic. A mysterious temporal dispersion cloud is spreading throughout the Universe and has just claimed Mirabilis as its newest victim. With a tip from time hunter and former companion Jacie Hunter, the Doctor is off on a new mission: to raise an army and defeat his people.

SETTING: The newest galaxy created by the Universe, nicknamed "the Sector of Forgotten Souls" by its ragtag inhabitants. Stellar nurseries spew deadly clouds of red dust across small star systems and primordial planets. This corner of space is uncharted, constantly changing and wrought with navigation hazards such as unstable quasars, temporal rifts and treacherous black holes. Only the most suicidal, insane or desperate chose to call this place home. It is also the only corner of the Universe left unmapped by Gallifrey's Matrix.

THE CAST: POSSIBLE CHARACTERS

MAJOR ROLES
The Doctor - [Tuna] - the wandering infamous timelord in his 10th regeneration has returned home to a time of temporal, universal strife.

Irish - [Rob] - he Doctor's feline companion, with green fur, mental powers, a dislike for water and all things that muss his fur.

"Fred" (Eos) - [David] - a member of the race of energy beings known as "The People". After establishing a rapport with Irish, she risked her life to save him and the Doctor. Now in corporeal form, she has taken the human name of Winnifred Stephanie O'Connell ("Fred" for short) for herself. '

Blackeye McGinty - [Cody] a space pirate re-nicknamed "Blackeye" after he battled the time hunters and their notorious STiG leader Jacie. He is an old friend of both Drax and Sabalom Glitz as well as most of the roguish space pirates haunting the universe before the great Gallifreyan plague. He was last seen joining the Ghost Ship crew after escaping the time loop on Hades (the last known refuge of rebels to the Central Authority).

Captain Pegleg "the Smeg" - [Duncan] pirate captain of the Esperanto with a colorful history and two artificial legs to prove it. He once served alongside Blackeye McGinty, though the two can not exactly be called friends. He know eeks out a living out of the CA's reach and in a sector of space where it's kill or be killed. His crew's primary bounty is whatever they can steal and consume or trade for consumables.

"One Chop" Cheney - first mate of the Esperanto known for his ruthless handling of machetes. He wears a pair of them for decoration and personal protection.

Crewman Kelly - teen-aged crewman on Captain Pegleg's ship the Esperanto. He's young, naive and cowardly. Your typical boy caught up in a roughneck world.

BEGINNING

TARDIS Materializes on Hold (Doctor, Irish, Fred & Blackeye McGinty)

The TARDIS materializes inside the hold of a pirate ship. All step out carrying torches and stepping through the cargo hold which has a curious and very unpleasant smell. The companions debate the origin of the smell. It is musty like old rope, says Blackeye. Fred identifies a sourness to it, like rotten eggs. Irish suggests it's spoiled food. Meanwhile the Doctor searches for an exit to the passageway. When he finds one he calls his companions' attention to the mission at hand. Blackeye is to help them make contact with the captain of this ship. Blackeye only has one problem: he doesn't really recognize the ship. A name would be helpful. Fred stumbles upon a power switch next to a crate marked with a name. Thinking it is the ship's name she flips on the power and everyone gets a shocking surprise. The hold is filled with rotting Cheetah carcasses hanging from the rafters. That is the source of the curious smell. The crates, filled with Cheetah skins, read Esperanto giving Blackeye the name of the captain and crew. He voices doubt about this mission, but the Doctor is determined to push on. They have no other choice, he says as he opens the passageway door and leads on.

Bridge (Pegleg, Cheney and Crewman Kelly)

Pegleg interrogates young Crewman Kelly on the charge of suspected theft. Crewman Kelly denies the allegations as lies, until he's told his accuser is One Chop Cheney. Crewman cowers at the idea of challenging Cheney's word. Pegleg offers the crewman a small measure of mercy. They can settle this like men and fight out the truth: winner is exonerated and loser is the liar, albeit a dead liar. Cheney gleams over the possibility of a fight. Before violence can break out though, the internal alarms go off. Cheney and Pegleg forget the crewman and turn to the readings. A duo-vascular time sensitive is on board, Pegleg announces. Cheney gleams: now they have some real prey. Pegleg orders him to start the hunt down by the hold. Cheney rushes off. Pegleg shouts at the stunned Crewman Kelly to stop gaping and join Cheney!

EARLY MIDDLE

Lower Passageways (Doctor, Irish, Fred, Blackeye McGinty)

As soon as they depart the Hold, alarms sound and the passageway lights dim to an eerie red emergency lighting. A gas fills the corridor burning their eyes and blinding their path. They scatter in different directions: Doctor in one, Irish another, and Fred with Blackeye down a third.

Shipwide (all pirates)

The alarm springs the bloodthirsty crew into action. They grab their blasters and sharp knives then pour out onto the passageways on the hunt. Cheney pushes his way down to the Hold with the crewman following. Pegleg heads in a slightly different direction.

LATE MIDDLE

Doctor's Passageway (Doctor, One Chop Cheney)

The Doctor stumbles away from the gas into a stairwell. Just as he's wiping the tears from his eyes and able to see again, he faces the fierce pirate Cheney. The Doctor greets him in a hand of friendship, but Cheney tries to slice his hand off. The pirate slurs a timelord curse and charges him. The Doctor dodges Cheney and is forced to run when more bloodthirsty pirates give chase.

Irish's Passageway (Irish, Crewman Kelly)

Irish retreats to a larder where he manages to clear his senses of the tear gas. He senses a presence in the room, pivots and finds the young crewman following him through the entrance. Irish instinctively grows to tiger size and the crewman responds with fear. Both attack each other.

Fred & Blackeye's Passageway (Fred, Blackeye McGinty, Pegleg)

Blackeye drags Fred away from the smoke, both coughing and wheezing. They find themselves in the clear air of a lift which ascends automatically to the top levels. They admit this mission isn't going exactly as planned already and try to figure out where the others went. Then the lift doors open and Pegleg greets them with a blaster.

ENDING

Bridge Level (Fred, Blackeye, Pegleg with Doctor and One Chp Cheney)

Pegleg confronts Fred and Blackeye with a nasty looking blaster. Blackeye recognizes Pegleg and reminds him of their old times together. Pegleg treats them as dangerous intruders to be dealt with violently. Before he can shoot either, the Doctor emerges from the stairs running for his life, One Chop Cheney fast on his heels. Pegleg turns and shoots the Doctor. Doctor collapses and Fred races to cover him before the pirates can kill the Doctor. Pegleg and Cheney don't care and seem intent to mow down both the girl and her Squid friend. Blackeye reacts quickly, surprisimg Pegleg and holding the pirate captain's own weapon on him. Blackeye threatens to relieve the captain of his duties permanently unless all the pirates stop, drop their weapons and listen!

Larder (Irish, Crewman Kelly)

Irish and Crewman Kelly fight, each getting in some good blows. Crewman calls Irish a few slurs all having to do with him being one of the "beast races". Irish retorts with a few of his on human insults with an added mention of the barbaric skinning of cat kin in the hold. Irish easily gains the upper hand in the fight until crewman manages to grab the crew's secret weapon - a sound taser-whip set to stun on frequencies cat's can hear. Irish writhes in pain and is subdued. But before crewman can skin Irish, the ship's exterior wall explodes inward throwing Crewman Kelly to the floor. Through the smoke out steps a man-sized cat creature with Tharil-like features. It's Taroc Arkannan!
