Background

WHAT HAS GONE BEFORE: One year ago in normal space-time, the Universe endured the worst tragedy it ever forgot… in the supernova explosion of Odin's Eye the Doctor died.

Upon returning to this Universe, the Doctor has found everything far from how he left it. Worlds are being oppressed and it is all the blame of his people. The so-called Central Authority controls all interstellar and intratemporal traffic. Having lost his friend Drax to the Timelord Intevention Squad (nicknamed the Squids), the Doctor is in search of him now.

In the last episode, the Doctor, Fred and Irish snuck aboard the traveling cruise liner the Flying Montecarlo on a mission to find the missing Drax. When the Doctor recognized his old friends Romana and Sabalom Glitz (but they didn't recognize him) as ordinary staff members, his fuss to get them to recall him caused the crew to be separated. The Doctor was carted off to Sickbay for "observation and rest"; Irish was lured away by his longlost sister Harlequin; and Fred found herself "rescued" by slick pick-up-man Pierce Bond.

SETTING: The Flying Montecarlo, a luxury spaceliner on a millenia journey across the galaxy. Passengers are renowned scientists, politicians, inventors, scholars and people who could change history. The crew consists of many old friends of the Doctor's, brainwashed and with new identities.

THE CAST: POSSIBLE CHARACTERS
Reserved roles marked by a [name]

The Doctor - [Tuna] - the wandering infamous timelord in his 10th regeneration has returned home to a time of temporal, universal strife.

Irish - [Rob] - he Doctor's feline companion, with green fur, mental powers, a dislike for water and all things that muss his fur. He hasn't seen his feline family in years, but shares a unique mental bond with them.

Eos, picture of Doctor's new companion"Fred" (Eos) - [David] - a member of the race of energy beings known as "The People".  After establishing a rapport with Irish, she risked her life to save him and the Doctor.  She has taken the human name of Winnifred Stephanie O'Connell ("Fred" for short) for herself.

Pierce Bond - a secret and private investigator resembling that fictional 007 earth spy. He wears tuxedos, has dark, neatly-trimmed hair and drinks lemon twists, shaken not stirred. He's aboard the Flying Montecarlo not for pleasure but for very secretive work. His cover story is that of a trillionaire-playboy on a long, much-needed holiday.

Cruise Director Roxana aka Romana - blonde, perky and timelady Romana's alternate personality. Like her crewmates, she remembers nothing of her former life and is very happy to be aboard the Flying Montecarlo.

Security Chief Blitz aka Sabalom Glitz - once a thief-for-hire, this ex-pirate now has the assumed role of an ultra-conservative security chief. His sole existence is to stop crime. It is his calling, and something he is exceptionally proud of. Any implication otherwise makes him prone to violent outbursts.

Captain Lavia aka Flavia - the redheaded commander of the Flying Montecarlo, hers is a dream job. She steers the automatic piloted ship through hyperspeeds around the most exotic places of the Mutter Spiral on a millenia journey. When she first started (so long ago she can't remember), she was the most excited captain they ever had. But in the last few months she has become bored and discontented. She feels called to do something more for "her people". She keeps as a pet an orange poodle she coaxes to do cat tricks for some unknown reason, even to her.

Harley - aka Harlequin, Irish's feline sister who was last seen departing as a kitten to travel with former President of the High Council Flavia. She's a calico cat, fully grown and on a mission.

Dr. Chrono-Von-Meter - ship's doctor, better known to the Doctor as Professor Chronotis (Salyvin), a former timelord criminal and master of mental manipulation. Short, stout, around 70-ish, with white hair, glasses and a bumbling Cambridge professor persona.

Nurse Chapel - blonde, pretty, assistant to Dr. Chrono-Von-Meter with perhaps another more secretive master

Passengers

BEGINNING

SICKBAY (The Doctor, Dr. Chrono-Von-Meter, Chief Blitz)

Chief Blitz escorts the Doctor through the cruise ship to the lowest level where the Sickbay resides. The Doctor engages Blitz in conversation trying to find out how long he remembers serving about the Montecarlo. He's trying to trigger Glitz's memory, but the tactic fails. Blitz remembers always being on the Montecarlo as long as he's been space-bound. More disconcerting, Blitz turns the Doctor over to the Sickbay staff which is under the direction of Dr. Chrono-Von-Meter... Professor Chronotis in the Doctor's memory. When the Doctor calls his old friend by his Earth name, it just confirms Blitz diagnosis that the traveling scientist is a wacko in need of supervision. Blitz leaves the Doctor in Chrono-Von-Meter's care. The first thing the old physician directs is for the Doctor to relax in a Medibed and undergo a soothing brain scan.

LOUNGE DECK (Fred, Pierce Bond)

Fred frets over the Doctor being escorted away while Bond attempts to distract her with a fruity drink he snags off a passing tray. To her dismay, she notices Irish has disappeared as well. She openly bemoans their "mission not going according to plan" then tries to cover up her slip despite Bond's notice of it. When the passengers begin a Conga line (at Cruise Director Roxana's lead), Bond steers Fred off on a more relaxing tour of the ship. He expertly guides them away from the crowd and towards the quieter Aft section greenhouse.

ACCESS WAYS (Harley, Irish... Cpt. Lavia)

Irish follows his sister into an open hatchway behind the bar. The corridor is small, dark and filled with many twists and turns. At first Irish has lost his sister and must search for her. He calls out mentally, but when he hears nothing he calls out verbally. Harley quickly hushes him from around a bend. He finds her looking out a ventilation grate into the well-lit Bridge. There they observe Captain Lavia petting her precious Poodle in a sad display of human affection for a dog. Irish notes how Lavia entices her dog to play games only a cat is smart enough to understand. Harley notes with sadness that those cat toys used to be hers... before "the Chamber". When Irish asks what that's all about, Harley directs him to follow to her hideout. She leads him down a couple decks toward the Galley.

MIDDLE

GREENHOUSE (Fred, Bond)

Bond takes Fred into the lush floral greenhouse - a place filled with beautiful tree-lined garden paths, streams, ponds, flora & fauna, and hundreds of birds. When they've gotten to the most distant quiet corner, Bond drops his smooth attempts at romance and questions Fred about this mission of hers. Fred tries to play dumb, but Bond reveals he knows they didn't get on the ship at the last destination. He guesses they entered by way of cargo hold since that makes the best place to breach Blitz's security. He also guesses they are there to look for something or someone. Fred admits they came to look for one of the Doctor's friends... an engineer named Drax who may be in some trouble. Bond correctly guesses this friend was happily going about his business a few months or weeks ago, suddenly disappeared and has turned up with a completely new identity aboard this ship. Fred questions Bond's insight and learns he is an agent for the Hegemony Guard, or what's left of it. A number of people have suddenly disappeared and are rumored to be aboard this ship. He's looking for a rather important lady once involved in Outer Rim Government. Bond suggests they join forces and look for their missing persons together. He advises Fred the best way to do that is to blend in. After all, he's the third agent to be sent on this hunt. The first two boarded the Montecarlo and never reported back.

SICKBAY (The Doctor, Dr. Chrono-Von-Meter, Nurse Chapel)

The Doctor is shown to his Medibed, sees the "brain scanner" and tries to stall for time. Dr. Chrono-Von-Meter calls his young nurse over to help calm the patient. Chrono-Von-Meter assures the Doctor that the brain scanner is harmless and will only help reorder his confused thoughts so he can relax better. The Doctor resists, having seen a neural partical scan before. Nurse Chapel surprises him with a hypospray filled with Valirian (a sedative). Despite his best efforts, the Doctor loses consciousness and is placed under the brain scanner. Dr. Chrono-Von-Meter directs the device be set to steady scan. As soon as he turns away Nurse Chapel adjusts the device and discreetly switches on a button marked "Transmit Mode". The device begins probing the Doctor's mind and gathering bits for transmittal.

GALLEY HIDEAWAY (Irish, Harley)

Harley and Fred arrive in her secret lair - a storage hole in the kitchens. Harley has a comfy hideout complete with a feather pillow bed, a telepathic notebook, and her own dishes of scraps. She explains she's been living off the chef's kindness for the last few months. He's not a bad man but does expect her to catch the odd mouse now and then. Irish is dismayed to see his sister reduced to living in a hovel when she used to have the reign of her own TARDIS. Harley almost doesn't remember the name TARDIS. She explains it has been months since she and Flavia were in a time capsule. They were traveling to Menfret to see the singing crystals. They had just met a bearded gypsy looking for the same thing when something scooped them up. Next she knew Flavia was screaming inside a very dark and loud chamber. Then the attendants escorted her away. Harley followed her aboard this ship, but Flavia never recognized her. She was accused of being a space pest and Lavia ordered her expelled from the ship into the vacuum of space. Harley hid here, making friends with the Chef and staying out of her old friend's way. Irish takes charge of the situation to help his sister. Somehow they must get Flavia back to her senses. He suggests the first step would be finding his friends the Doctor and Fred. Harley notes the kitchen's business means dinner is about to be served. They will probably find them in the dining room.

ENDING

DINING ROOM (Fred & Bond, Irish & Harley, Cpt. Lavia, her staff and dinner guests... ALL)

That evening, Bond escorts a dressed-up Fred into the fancy Dining Room. Roxana escorts them to their private table in a corner near the Captain's table. Fred protests about this "blending in" plan of Bond's. She wants to find her friends, not just blend in. Bond reminds her they have looked and must trust that her friends will find their way to the Dining Room eventually.

As Chief Blitz escorts Cpt. Lavia to her table, sure enough Bond's words are proven prophetic. Harley and Irish sneak over to Fred's table under the skirt of the appetizer cart. They dive out avoiding Lavia's glance and settle in the third unoccupied chair at Bond and Fred's table. The four are just getting acquainted and filling each other in on what they know and what they need to find when Dr. Chrono-Von-Meter arrives with a surprise guest for the Captain's table.

The Doctor (now calling himself Dr. Von Schmidt) introduces himself to Captain Lavia and takes a seat by her side. Despite his friends' surprised and dismayed stares, the Doctor completely ignores them instead engaging the Captain and her crew in idle, everyday conversation about this marvelous cruise they're on and how it utterly refreshes the mind.
