Mallsville by Mary Redus (MsTegan) The Tardis lands smack in the middle of a glitzy wacky world called Mallsville. An entire society flourishes within the confines of a domed mall. Hawkers from shops of every kind beckon and entice travelers with their wares and services. How will the Doctor and his companions react to the luscious temptations of this tawdry place? Especially when they learn no one is allowed to leave the shelter of the mall? Are the mall and its vendors as friendly as they appear to be? What's going on here any way? ---------- Mallsville, A short History Mallsville is a post-nuclear disaster society. It's people have lived underground for centuries in place that closely resembles a mall. Everything is contained in the mall; homes, stores, etc. The place is really glitzy and crass, and so are the people who live there. They all look vaguely alike because they are all test tube babies. Even the food is artificial, and the water supply has been used to dope the masses and keep them content for centuries. The people are forbidden to leave the shelter of the mall, with the penalty of death for anyone who dares to do so. Few want to leave however, because this world is all they have ever known. The problem is that the air and the land on the surface of Mallsville are beautiful and viable, and nobody knows it. The Master is on Mallsville, and plans to keep it that way. He has been doping the water to make the people particularly open to mind hypnosis. He has set up his base with several lackeys and is using a holoshop to insert subliminal messages into people's heads. Many of the people on the world are slaves to the Master, and don't even know it yet. But there is a small group of rebels that has ventured outside and knows that the land outside is viable. Ben falls in with them, and works to help them reveal the truth to the people of Mallsville. They are aware of the water supply manipulation, and have a fresh water supply of their own. They are countering the Master's efforts with blatant graffiti and posters urging people to think for themselves, to wander where they have never gone before, implying outside.... things are beginning to stir up, the masses are becoming restless and uncontent.... The Doctor and his companions come to Mallsville because the Doctor's "Prowl Program" indicates that one or possibly two renegade Timelords are there. The Doctor and Ben split up and investigate, looking for anything out of the ordinary. Delmin and Tegan stay behind in the TARDIS, caught up in an adventure of their own. (See the short story, "Adrift.") The Gamester is also here, and is the one who lured the Doctor to this world. He plans on toying with the Doctor before destroying him. The Doctor: DRTUNA Ben Jackson: BenJacksn Delmin: DanielC71 Tegan: MsTegan SweetiePie: GailWho Stark: The Master's lackey: The Master: The Gamester: ProfGWhiz Other Rebels as needed Sweetie Pie: Owns a Diner that specializes in bagels and hot cinnamon rolls. She is really a leader for the Mallsville Rebel Alliance. She loves to pretend to be the dumb motherly waitress type, but really is extremely sharp. Her shop functions as a diner, but is really a store front for rebel activities. She and her cohorts know that the land surface above Mallsville is viable; in fact breath-takingly beautiful. Many of the Rebels venture above ground, despite a death penalty for leaving the confines of the mall. The Rebels hope to establish an independent society free of the confines and glitz of Mallsville. They seek a simple agrarian lifestyle, but risk their lives to do so. First, they hope to expose the current leader (the Master) of Mallsville as a liar who controls the masses for his own purposes, by stirring up the masses with discontent, finally springing the truth about the surface, and inviting all who wish to leave the confines of Mallsville to join them. Stark: SweetiePie's Lover and Co-Leader. Is a risk taker. Is responsible for the rebel base on the surface of the planet, but often ventures "below" to stir up the people of Mallsville by putting graffiti and posters on the walls, and giving speeches if he can get away with it. Stark was the first to recognize that something was wrong with the water supply below, after noticing a difference in his own ability to think clearly after being above ground and drinking surface water only over a period of several days. The Master's Lackey: Is a real weasel of a little man. He was the first to be dominated by the Master, courted by false promises of power and riches. He helps the Master to drug the water supply, and runs HoloFantasyLand, which is the place where the Master uses subliminal messages to take over the minds of the masses and slowly convert them all to his control. He is a willing partner in the Master's plan. The Gamester: Is a rebel Timelord, first introduced in the Shada Sims. He likes to manipulate the Doctor into playing his little games. He toys with the Doctor like a cat toys with a mouse. It's all in the game, after all! The Master: Has not regenerated since our last encounter with him ( when Tempus was the Doctor, and WarWitch gave her life to save him as he turned into DRTUNA). The Doctor and Ben need to be able to recognize the Master by sight when they see him. The Master plans to turn the population into mindless consumers, content with their easy life style. He will eventually enslave them once they are all under control. He plans to use them as a slave labor force to build him a mighty city on the surface of the planet, from which he plans TO RULE THE UNIVERSE (of course). The citizens will later become the army he needs to conquer nearby planets. ---------- Just before landing on Mallsville, something strange happened on board the Tardis. ADRIFT by DanielC71 Delmin tossed his NetLink onto his bed and leaned back in his 20th century genuine leather executive chair. The swift succession of adventures in the TARDIS had left him dazed and angry. Delmin had seen the Doctor almost relish the constant danger, which had played so much havoc on both Ben and Tegan..... And Tegan was another enigma. Delmin found himself almost forgetting about Cassandra. Delmin swung his legs up from the floor and rested them on his desk. The white plastic monstrosity had been here since Delmin moved in rather hastily some time ago. It was either a part of the TARDIS or a piece of gauche furniture the Doctor had collected somewhere. The only interesting aspect was its locked drawer on the bottom left. Delmin shrugged. He had nothing better to do and the TARDIS was about to land again - probably in the middle of the Trinity zone in New Mexico during the first atomic explosion. He removed a small set of electronic keys from a small wrapped bundle he kept in a safe part of his long jacket. He crouched onto the floor, and began to apply his art. A knock at the door. "Busy." The door opened. "Hey Delmin, you busy?" It was Tegan. She had already barged in and was looking at the keys Delmin was bout to insert in the lock. He sighed. "Close the door." She did so and returned to the drawer with a quizzical expression. Delmin had seen it many times on Tegan....and Cassandra. He knew she was curious. "Any reason you're picking the lock?" "I'm bored." "The Doctor must have a key." Delmin inserted the white drone key. "It would take him decades to find it." "When it was in his coat all along," Tegan added. Delmin added the yellow grounding key. "Exactly. Besides, I don't need the Doctor's permission to do everything.Especially to open a locked drawer in a tacky plastic desk that's stuck in my room." Tegan leaned forward to get a closer view of the lock. "Tegan, the light..." She noticed she had cast a shadow onto the drawer. "Oh, sorry." She leaned back as Delmin concentrated on the lock. He reasoned it had to be of Earth type, or at least within his era, because the design roughly corresponded to an Enigma Lock Series VI, specifically an Electrodyne model from 2375. The Doctor should have considered that before he put me in this room, thought Delmin. Delmin suddenly turned both keys to the left. The drawer slid open and inch. "What hands!" Tegan said. Delmin saw her smile and quickly looked back to the drawer. Suppressing a smile of his own, he said: "Let's open it up." The drawer contained a sophisticated computer from well beyond Delmin's era, the 24th century. "Oh it's a Delta Particle Accelerator," said Tegan. "How on Earth do you know that?" said Delmin, aghast. "Oh come on. You pick up a thing or two traveling with the Doc. It also has an on-board processor and...what's that?" Tegan pointed to a small plastic control panel with flashing blue characters. A small white indicator light was flashing. "I don't know," muttered Delmin. He reached forward and felt his hand slip into a pool of some heavy liquid. "What the hell?" "What is it?" asked Tegan unaware of any danger. A flash of blue enveloped the two busybodies. As Ben knocked on Delmin's door to inform him the TARDIS had landed, the room was already empty. Delmin and Tegan lay prone in what appeared to be a disused part of the TARDIS. Tegan awoke first. She had a mild headache and no worse. She leaned over Delmin, who seemed to be no worse. "Great job, Delmin," she muttered. "Nice surprise, Doc." She stood and stretched her neck. A fine layer of gray dust clinged to her clothing. Even the walls were gray. She brushed herself off and spied the only door out of the room, thirty feet ahead. "Well, at least we're still in the TARDIS," she said. Leaving Delmin to recover on his own for a moment, she walked across the large empty room, leaving tracks of her high heeled shoes in the dust. The sound of her footsteps left a dull echo in the air, and Tegan began to walk faster. The door, thankfully, didn't offer resistance as she swung it toward her. Another TARDIS corridor. She heard footsteps approaching. "Has the Doctor found us already?" The footsteps became louder. She heard voices that didn't belong to the Doctor or Ben. Tegan swung the door closed as quickly as she could without giving in to the impulse to slam it. Delmin began to awake. "Oooohh...." he moaned. "My head..." "Sssh!" whispered Tegan, hoping whoever it was wouldn't hear. Delmin struggled vainly to rise, but kept silent. Tegan distinctly heard two voices in the corridor. "I'm afraid my dear young man, that what you ask is out of the question!" "But you've accomplished so much in these last few weeks! Why not repair the central column?" She recognized the voice of the first man.... the first Doctor. From the sound of the second voice, Tegan guessed it must be...what was his name? "Ian Chesserman, I don't think you appreciate--!" shouted the Doctor. "Chesterton!" corrected Ian. "Yes, as I said! This Delta Particle Accelerator will take weeks to perfect, and without it, the problem of the central column will be impossible to solve! The last time I used it, Susan and I were nearly lost in Spain-- I mean in space! You must give me more time!" "But how much longer will it be?" "I don't know," replied the Doctor. "If only we could guarantee a landing in a safe, technologically advanced world...." This was too much. She would need the first Doctor's help to return to the time zone of the Doctor's tenth. She swung open the door. The hallway stood empty. The voices were silenced. Delmin was on his feet. "Did I hear voices?" "Yes--I think they were ghosts!" "Ghosts? Get real!" "Dammit, Delmin! she shouted. "It was the first Doctor and Ian outside! And when I opened the door, they vanished!" "The first Doctor? Who---?" "Never mind. I didn't see them, just heard them. They were talking about the Delta Particle Accelerator." Delmin stepped forward and opened the door. An empty corridor. "Come on," he said. "Let's explore." He took a left. "You're going the wrong way; that's deeper into the TARDIS." Tegan gave Delmin a penetrating stare of disapproval. Delmin shrugged a bit and turned to Tegan. "OK, after you!" "Why is it you men always want to lead?" Tegan asked, setting off toward the upper levels of the TARDIS. "Nothing," said Delmin. "We must be miles beneath the console room." "Not as far as that," replied Tegan, but we were a long way down." Tegan heard Delmin mutter something about heat. "Save it for walking, Delmin," she admonished. "Save what for walking? I can walk you into the ground, Tee." A stupid grin was sculpted on his face. Tegan felt like punching a hole in his teeth for some reason. "You said something about the heat," she replied. "Not me." An echo: "No Jamie, I will not do it! An orbiting fusion station is far too complex to override with this equipment!" Tegan listen for the direction and took off at a quick jog. Delmin followed. Tegan stopped just outside a door, where the two companions heard: "But Doctor...you said yourself that if the Sontarans gain control of the Solar Satellites that they'll boil away the oceans!" "I am well aware of that Jamie, but this Delta Wave Accelerator is far too unstable for that kind of work! One small slip and BANG! You're adrift in time and space!" "But what about this Hear shield you keep mentioning?" asked the voice of a young girl. "Who are they?" asked Delmin. "Sounds like the second Doctor and....I'm not sure." "Second Doctor?!" whispered Delmin. "How many are there?" "Shut up!" hissed Tegan. "Someone's out there!" shouted the girl. "Victoria, it;'s only your imagination!" replied the Doctor. "But I heard it!" protested Victoria. "Jamie, didn't you hear it?" "Yes, someone's just outside the door!" Delmin grabbed the door to hold it shut but a stronger pair of hands yanked it from the inside. The door flew open onto an empty, dust filled room as the reverberation of the voices died in the air. "This is too weird," said Delmin. "I agree," said Tegan. "But did you hear what they said about the Delta Particle Accelerator? It's like we're being given information or something...." "Maybe, I don't know. It could all be coincidence," admitted Delmin. "But it's the best clue so far. Shall we keep walking?" Tegan sighed. "Back up the hill again." And up they climbed toward the console room. Delmin heard it the third time. They had just passed what Tegan believed to be the former site of the Zero Room, when Delmin signalled her to run quickly to a door he was listening to. "Hummm....I thought I'd lost this" said a voice from within. "That's MY Doctor!" whispered Tegan. "What?!" Delmin was still confused. "Never mind," she said. The fifth Doctor, Tegan realized, and he was just inside. "A Delta Particle Accelerator? What's that?" asked Nyssa. "A crude device I acquired from the Laverdeens. It transports people across phase shifts in the space/time vortex." "That's impossible!" objected Nyssa. "I wish," muttered Delmin. "No, just incredibly dangerous," answered the Doctor from within. "Anyone caught in the shift without proper preparation can find themselves adrift between time zones forever." "But can you get back once you're adrift?" shouted Tegan suddenly. "Tegan, no!" shouted Delmin. "Doctor, it's Tegan!" shouted Nyssa. "Impossible, she's on Earth!" Delmin and Tegan heard the Doctor move toward the door. "No! Don't open the door, Doctor! pleaded Tegan. "We activated the Delta Particle Accelerator and now we're stuck! If you open the door, we'll lose you!" "Who's we?" asked the Doctor, who stood just behind the door without opening it. "It's me!" shouted Delmin. "From your future, Doctor," explained Tegan. "From your ninth regeneration! We've encountered several other Doctors already, but we can't make direct contact!" "Brave heart, Tegan," said the Doctor. "Is this a joke?" asked Nyssa. "I wish!" shouted Delmin. "This is deadly serious, Nyssa," said the Doctor. "Tegan and..." "Delmin!" said Delmin. "Tegan and Delmin, listen to me carefully and follow my instructions to the letter, or you may never get out of the phase shift! Be sure to create the exact conditions of your previous journey before you activate!" Tegan and Delmin finally made their way to Delmin's room, or what would be Delmin's room in a different time zone. Inside was the white plastic desk. "I love that desk. If we get back, I'm going to carry that desk with me wherever I go," said Delmin. "Do you have your keys?" asked Tegan. Delmin removed them from his hiding place in his coat and began to work on the lock again. Within minutes it was open. "Now what was that sequence?" asked Delmin. "88Mhz, 65.77 khz, 5443hz on the blue panel." Delmin set the controls. The white indicator light remained dormant. "Are you ready? he asked. Tegan nodded. He activated the blue switch that had misfired once previously, and the two companions vanished. Tegan and Delmin stood again in the dusty, empty room. "Oh no..." muttered Tegan. Looking down, she saw the tracks of her shoes covered with several new layers of dust. "Don't lose hope, Tegan. We may be back where we should be," said Delmin. He quickly jogged forward and opened the door. It was the same hallway. But the configuration of the TARDIS had changed. Just ahead in the hallway was the familiar door that led to the console room. "How?" asked Delmin. "Architectural reconfiguration," responded Tegan. "We're definitely in a different time zone, then. Let's see where we are." The two crept forward, edged open the console room door, and peered inside. Suddenly the TARDIS jolted. Tegan and Delmin steadied each other against the walls of the corridor. Delmin saw the Doctor, a tall man with curly brown hair and a coat made in incredibly bad taste, attempt to readjust the controls. A small woman with long, curly red hair lay on the floor, unconscious. Suddenly the console exploded in the Doctor's face. The Doctor spun backward, and with his dying act caught a glimpse of Delmin. Just as suddenly, the TARDIS was quiet. Tegan had fallen and Delmin helped her up. He put his hand over her lips, pointed to the Doctor, and made a cutting motion across his neck with his finger. "No..." Tegan whispered. A woman entered the TARDIS with a horrific bat-like creature. "Leave the girl, it's the man I want. Bring him!" The woman left, and the bat-like thing turned over the Doctor, whose features were blurring and finally changed entirely. "So that's how he does it!" whispered Delmin. But Tegan had grabbed Delmin's sleeve and was pulling him away from the door. Safely in the TARDIS interior, Tegan and Delmin sat against a wall. Delmin absent-mindedly played with his lock pick keys and Tegan had her head on her knees. "We're out of the phase shift alright," said Tegan. "We're back in normal time but in the wrong period." "And now we're stuck." admitted Delmin. "We can't ask the Doctor for help without interfering in his time line, we can't hide in the TARDIS for a few centuries for our Doctor to catch up, and all that's left is..." "To sneak out of the TARDIS and make a life for ourselves on...wherever we are." Tegan began to cry. Delmin turned toward her as she shook silently with frustration. He put his arm over her shoulder and rested his head against the white walls. White walls....White.... "White!" shouted Delmin. "What?" shouted Tegan, startled. The blue control panel on the Accelerator... the original...had a white button flashing that wasn't activated when we tried it the second time! Your Doctor said that everything had to be similar or it wouldn't work!" "Are you sure?" Tegan's face lit up and she wiped away the tears. "Course I am! Come on!" Delmin hefted Tegan onto her feet and they ran for his room. "That's it," said Delmin. "An indicator that the Accelerator is idling. That's how we got thrown out of our time. It had a massive build up of static time. I've got it turning over at maximum rev's, which should do the job." "An hour ago you didn't know what it was," admonished Tegan as she chewed on a fingernail. "You learn a lot traveling with a friend of the Doctor's," said Delmin. Tegan smiled reluctantly. "You throw the switch this time, for luck," said Delmin. Tegan smiled, took his hand in hers and squeezed, and with the other hand, pulled the switch..... Tegan and Delmin materialized in the control room and collapsed onto the floor from fatigue. The monitor, still activated, showed the Doctor and Ben already embroiled in the mystery and terror of Mallsville. EPILOGUE "What did you find, Ace?" asked the Doctor, who was standing on a ladder and adjusting several controls inside a roundel. "This thing. Looks like a computer with a wicked hard drive!" Ace held up the Delta Particle Accelerator in both hands. The Doctor turned to look at his companion's discovery. "Jumping Galaxies, put that thing down!" the Doctor shouted. "All right, all right, keep your shirt on!" Ace reluctantly placed the accelerator carefully on the floor. The Doctor sighed with relief and climbed down. "This is a very dangerous device! It hasn't been worth the trouble it caused, really." "Then why not get rid of it?" questioned Ace. "It'll be needed in a few centuries....After that I'll get rid of it. If I remember. In any case, I'm going to lock it away from curious fingers." "I'm not a child, Doctor," pouted Ace. "No, no, of course not, but it's still not something one just leaves around." The Doctor gingerly picked up the accelerator, held it as far away from his body as he could, and walked slowly down the hallway. Ace shrugged, and decided to sneak away to mix more Nitro-Nine bombs. The Doctor found the room he was looking for with the plastic desk. "What a hideous desk..." the Doctor muttered. With his left foot, the Doctor opened the bottom left drawer, and then carefully placed the accelerator inside. The Doctor smile in satisfaction. "There," he said. "Safe and sound, until it's discovered again." Closing the drawer, he knocked its face three times. Three quiet beeps returned his knock, and the drawer was locked. ---------- Mallsville, Episode One 11:00- 11:20 $= Dr, Ben, Tegan, Delmin in the Tardis In the library, the Doctor and Ben are having a heated discussion about Carolyn and what happened with the Leviathans. Ben demands to know the part the Doctor played in all this. Delmin and Tegan are preparing supper when they hear the row and rush in. Delmin jumps right in and throws in his two cents worth. Tegan plops down in a chair and watches, wishing they'd all just shut up and get along. She notices the question mark pin on the Dr's lapel is blinking, and hollers till she gets his attention. It's the beeper for the Prowl Program! The Doctor runs from the library to the console room in mid-sentence with Ben following. Tegan and Dlemin exchange a glance, agree to pass this adventure up, and exit towards the kitchen. (Later, they will have an adventure of their own in the short story, "Adrift".) #= Mallsville, Commons Square: The Master The Master barges in to his headquarters in Holofantasyland. He roughs up some of his lackeys, demanding to know if they has found the source of all the rebel graffiti. The lackeys report no. The Master goes berserk. He calls up the Deli, to make sure they are preparing the new (drugged) coffee brew as ordered. The Master fumes, wondering why his plan to dope the people of Mallsville isn't as successful as it should be. By now the entire population should be mindless consumers, living for the moment, ripe and ready to be exploited!! He leaves to check on the water fountains around town, after reminding his lackeys to activate the subliminal mind control program for any customers who enter the Holofantasyland today. %= Mallsville, Commons Square, SweetiePie's Diner: SweetiePie, Stark SweetiePie gets ready to open shop for the day's business, making the day's cinnamon rolls and a pot of steaming coffee, using an illegal fresh water tap from outside. The espresso machine begins to whir and hum, signaling someone approaching from the hidden entrance outside. SweetiePie goes into the back of the shop and hastily pulls open a fake oven door, (really the front to a tunnel leading outside) Stark emerges. Sweetie Pie reams him out for barely making it in time. Slimeball calls via telelink, and they check in, reporting they are ready for the day's business. The Master laughs, asking if they have that special coffee ready for their customers. They assure him they do. They do not let him know they are aware the city water supply has been drugged. (Their coffee and water supply is not.) @= Mallsville, Commons Square, Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe: The Gamester The Gamester prepares to set up his trap for the Doctor, placing his distinctive white chess set in the window of the Curiosity shop. Muttering to himself about revenge on the Dr and getting him this time! He sends a signal that he knows the Doctor will pick up, ( Eeeeny Meeeny Miny Mo, Which Way Will The Doctor Go?) and won't be able to resist. The Gamester puts on his disguise. Feel free to spend sometime developing your elaborate disguse. The Gamester goes outside to hawk for customers, and watch for the Dr. 11:20-11:40 $= The Doctor and Ben in the Tardis (Quickly!) The Doctor exclaims that the Prowl program has activated, but it must be malfunctioning. There are two signals coming from a planet in the SigmaAlpha quadrant. He amplifies the signal and hears a cryptic message: " Eeny meeny miny mo, which way will the Dr go?" He sets the controls and the Tardis follows the signal, taking the crew to Mallsville. Ben tries to get some sense out of what is happening, gives up and decides to let Tegan and Dlemin know the TARDIS is about to land. He can't find them, and tells the Doctor so. The TARDIS lands, and the Dr takes a quick scan of the planet. He describes a subterrainian culture, viable atmosphere, contained. He exits the Tardis, telling Ben that Tegan and Delmin will just have to catch up with them later. Ben follows. The Doctor asks Ben to explore and look for anything unusual, and the two split up. %= SweetiePie's Diner: SweetiePie, The Master ( and later Ben) Stark and Sweetie Pie quickly plan the day's activities. Sweetie Pie gives Stark a new can of spray paint and some posters to post around town. Stark leaves. SweetiePie serves coffee and down-home manners to her customers, (Hi Hon! Etc) The Master enters, and orders a cup. SweetiePie recognizes him and gives him a cup of the doctored stuff, that she keeps in a special pot for just that purpose. He dips his pinkie into it, samples it and compliments the chef. He notices the espresso machine whirring and mentions that someone ought to see to it. SweetiePie laughs and says that old thing always whirs and whistles, just ignore it. She seems nervous. The Master stays a while and shoot the breeze, making Sweetie Pie very nervous. He decides to keep an eye on her. He leaves and continues his search for the rebel base. SweetiePie rushes to let in another Rebel, as soon as the Master leaves. (Later Ben will arrive and order coffee and a cinnamon roll.) #= The Commons: Ben Ben will experience all the glitz of Mallsville to the extreme. Extras need to try to hawk for customers and lure Ben into their establishments, promising the fulfillment of all his heart's desires. Have some fun, and make the town a tawdry, steamy place. Ben, however, isn't easily fooled. He's an experienced sailor after all, has been to seedy ports all over Earth, and knows a come-on when he hears one. Instead, he smells the cinnamon rolls and heads to SweetiePie's. A good meal is something every sailor appreciates. @= The Olde Curiosity Shoppe: The Gamester and The Doctor The Gamester sees the Doctor coming, and lures him to the storefront. The Prowl beeper is blinking wildly, so the Doctor gets curious, especially when he notices the chess set in the window. He follows the Gamester into the store. The Gamester disappears and the door to the Curiostiy Shoppe slams shut, as the Gamester howls with laughter. The Doctor faces three doors on the opposing wall. The Gamester's voice teases, "Which door holds the grand prize for our lucky customer? Will it be Door Number One? Door Number Two? Or Door Number Three?" The Doctor begins to suspect who he is dealing with, becomes impatient, and enters a door. He encounters several turns and twists and jokes before he finally enters a large room with a huge chess board and life size pieces on the floor. Walking through the chess set, he finds the Gamester sitting at a table with the chess set from upstairs. The Doctor takes the empty seat. * The Commons: Stark & any other extra, later the Master Stark steals through the commons posting banners and spray painting logos for the rebellion with wild abandon (Any other extras can be Stark's cohort.) Has fun. Puts posters in unlikely places. After leaving SweetiePie's the Master will spot Stark and pursue him through various establishments. Have fun running through various kinds of stores in the mall, hiding in weird or silly places. Eventually, Stark slips back to the Diner, and the Master follows close behind. 11:40- 12:00 % SweetiePie's Diner: SweetiePie, Ben (Later Stark and the Master) Ben orders a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll from Sweetie Pie who recognizes him as different from her normal clients. She babies him and treats him like a king and he begins to feel better. The Espresso machine whirs and she leaves for the back room. She lets in several other rebels, but forgets to turn off the machine. It begins to whistle and steam. Stark runs through the diner into the back room, and Ben follows to tell SweetiePie about the Espresso Machine. He sees the trap door to the outside. Stark grabs him and pushes him inside and follows, slamming the door behind him. SweetiePie rushes back behind the counter just in time to see the Master enter. He demands to know where "that man" went! SweetiePie doesn't know what he is talking about. The Master rushes past her into the back room, but can't find anything, he begins to try to assert mind control over her. Sweetie Pie is no fool, and realizes what is happening. She resists mightily, trying to distract the Master with offers of hot cinnamon rolls, etc. Finally, the Master, tires of this foolishness, grabs her chin and forces her to look him in the eye. Despite herself, she begins to succumb.... (Sweetie Pie's cliffhanger) * Outside Mallsville: Stark and Ben Stark makes Ben cooperate and move forward through the dark stinking tunnel by pushing a blaster into the side of his neck and threatening to kill him. He also forces Ben to carry the torch he lit after entering the tunnel.Ben does as he is told, but then decides to put up a fight. He pretends to stumble, drops and puts out the light, and trips Stark when he rushes up. The two of them scuffle, Stark wins. Stark pushes Ben the rest of the way down the tunnel, through the pitch black dark. Ben walks smack into a hard surface and Stark laughs. Stark forces Ben to open the door, and Ben is blinded by a bright shining light! (Ben's clifffhanger) @= Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe: The Doctor and the Gamester The Gamester and the Doctor will have a battle of wits, each enjoying the other's skill wit words and satire. Eventually, they agree to play a game of Klin Zah, setting high stakes on the game. But this is more than just a game, and the two timelords know it. Determined to set right the wrongs that happened on Shada the last time they met, the Doctor becomes totally engrossed in the game, forgettting all about Mallsville, the TARDIS, and his companions. This of course, is exactly what the Gamester counted on. Ben has nothing to lose, and tells all. Stark decides Ben must be telling the truth, and tells him about the founding of Mallsville centuries ago, prior the Great War of all Wars. How his great-great grandfather and others predicted the nuclear devastation, and prepared a place for their families to live in. Tired of living below, and disgusted with what their society had become, Stark and others defied the laws of the Elders and went above. They discovered a pristine ecosystem. He takes Ben on a tour of NewFoundLand. Ben wants to know why the others won't come above. Stark says they aren't sure, but suspects it is more than the old taboo, they suspect the current leader, SlimeBall, has something to do with it, they know he has been doping the masses through the water supply. Ben thinks that maybe this is something the Dr should know about, and mentions the Dr to Stark. Stark agrees to meet with the Dr. #In the Commons: Delmin and Tegan and the Master Delmin and Tegan exit the Tardis, happy to have made it back to real time, after their recent adventure. They notice that Mallsville appears to be in turmoil. Tegan begins to worry about Ben and the Dr. The Master approaches, rolling up his sleeves, making threats about rebel cohorts. Delmin tells Tegan to run, and she doesn't argue for once. Delmin shouts insults at the Master as a ploy to lead him away from Tegan. It works, Delmin turns and runs with the Master in pursuit. Delmin finds himself in a dead end alley. Delmin waits until he is very near, jumps and grabs a fire escape overhead, and kicks the Master HARD! The Master is knocked out, and Delmin pulls himself up onto the fire escape and shimmys up to the roof. The Master begins to stir, sees Delmin. Delmin forces his way into a strange looking door on the top of the roof. The Master follows but sees the old language sign above the door, "Death Zone, Entrance Forbidden", halts and hesitates. He backs from the doorway and leaves as quickly as possible. Delmin breathes a sigh of relief. The building smells stale and unused, and is WAY too quiet, except for a distant humming in the background. Delmin decides to investigate. The Master returns to the HoloFantasyLand, and will meet SweetiePie on the way. @ = Ye Olde Curiosity Shop: The Doctor, the Gamester, (eventually Tegan) The Dr and The Gamester have agreed on the stakes of the game, and begin to play Klin Zah. After running for a few minutes, Tegan ducks into a doorway and peeks to see if anyone is pursuing. No one is. She sees she is at the entry to a curiosity shop. A chess set in the window display catches her eye. She sees the pieces look exactly like the white knight the Dr got on Shada. She enters, thinking it can't be a coincidence...The Doctor and the Gamester are still playing Klin Zha. Tegan walks in to investigate and proceeds downstairs to what looks like a game Arena. The Gamester seats her beside the Dr. The Dr seems distracted and intensely involved with the game. Tegan tries understand the Dr's preoccupation, and showers him with questions about the game. Tegan hears faint noises coming from above. Could they be explosions? Middle Part 11:20-11:40 % The Commons: Sweetie Pie, the Master, (later Ben and Stark) SweetiePie decides that the time has come to begin Phase II of Mallsville Liberation, and notifies Stark via Rebel Radio. She closes shop, pulls the shades, and stuffs the cleverly disguised BagelBombs into her streetcart....exits the shop into the commons. SweetiePie makes the rounds delivering BagelBombs to assigned rebel sympathizers, the Master happens on her as she is making a delivery, and attempts to stop her. SweetiePie throws a bagelbomb to stop him. The other rebels take that as a signal to begin Phase II, an attack of government offices and communications centers. The Master escapes and runs to his control center in HolofantasyLand. SweetiePie orders the rebels to concentrate on taking the communications center, leaves to look for the Master, following him to HoloFantasyland. (She meets Stark and Ben there eventually). * Outside (NewFoundLand, quickly) Ben and Stark % (later as they reach The Commons and meet SweetiePie and the Master) Stark receives notification of Phase II from Sweetie Pie, and races for the tunnel with Ben close behind. On the way, Stark tells Ben that his mission is to find and capture the current leader of Mallsville, the Master. The two enter the commons and search the shops looking for the Master, eventually going to the HoloFantasyLand, and finding him there. The Master raises a gun from beneath his robes, but Stark jumps him, and throws him to the ground. Ben ties him up, and the two interrogate him, until he admits to manipulating the masses, but refuses to tell how. They tie him up, and decide to take him along as they look for the Dr. SweetiePie enters. Hearing the explosions, the group decides to proceed to the communications center, where the intense fighting is underway. The Master is plopped into the bagel cart, with a bagel bomb strapped to his mouth to keep him quiet, then pushed along. @= Ye Olde Curiosity Shop: Dr, Gamester, Tegan The exploding noises become more frequent, and Tegan gets worried for Delmin and Ben. Finally, Tegan demands to know what the Doctor is doing here, when he ought to be outside! She tries to tell him that something is wrong with Mallsville, suggesting that perhaps the Gamester has not been up front...that this game is meaningless, perhaps just a ploy to keep the Dr occupied when he should be somewhere else...The Dr listens with interest, and demands to know what is going on. The Gamester replies he doesn't know FOR SURE, but thinks there may be a revolt. He regards it with complete indifference, and reminds the Dr that the next move is his. The Dr absently moves his playing piece, and the game continues. Tegan hears another explosion from up above, and tries to bring it to the Dr's attention. The Dr is engrossed in the game, and half listens. Another explosion. Tegan decides to end the game for once and for all, jumping into the arena floor scattering the pieces on the gameboard. The LARGE pieces begin to move back to their positions. Tegan continues to knock them down shouting to the Dr and the Gamester that as long as she is here they won't be finishing THIS game. The Dr agrees that it is time to end this game, and stands, motioning Tegan to lead the way out. The Gamester protests against this unsportsmanlike conduct, and follows; very unhappy! # Inside Elder's Computer Center: Delmin Delmin follows the humming noise through dark twisting corridors, and enters a giant antiquated computer center. He is able to access the control monitor and easily cracks the code. He sees that everything in Mallsville is run by the computer, air, food processing, water circulation, waste disposal. Typical set up for a post nuclear survival facility. Delmin searches for and activates computer's interactive voice, and questions it. He asks about the duration of the survival program, and discovers the center was never meant to run for over three centuries. He sees that the computer has been tampered with, is caught in a loop, and that an ancient communication announcing the closing of Mallsville and eventual resettlement program on the surface has been stalled. Instead, the old admonitions to stay inside, and threats of death have been repeated over and over. The computer complains about not being able to do it's job properly, but seems to have no memory of being tampered with. Delmin decides to leave things as they are, and report to the Dr...and find Tegan. The computer acts lonely and begs him to stay. Dlemin promises to return with "lots of new friends". He leaves the building, searching for a ground floor exit. The Last Part 11:40-12:00 * In the Commons: SweetiePie, Ben, Stark, the Master (later Dr, Tegan, Delmin) Stark, SweetiePie and Ben make their way through the commons with Slimeball in tow. They narrowly dodge the local cops, and the Master's minions. They get penned down in front of an old boarded up storefront that seems out of place in the glitz of the Mall. They throw BagelBombs and make a defensive stand. They seem cut off from the rest of the rebels, who are pinned down in front of the communications center. They make derisive gestures at the holocam crew that is filming the episode and showing it live on the giant viewscreen suspended from the Mall's ceiling. They decide to use the free publicity to shout slogans about the revolution!! Ben gets carried away and joins in! (They will be joined by the Dr and Tegan later) @ Exiting the Arena, entering the Commons: Dr, Gamester, Tegan The Dr and Tegan make their way through the commons, with a growing sense of urgency as the conflict escalates. The Gamester follows, and smiling, and suggests that perhaps he will give the Dr a little hint to solve this mysterious revolt if the Dr will agree to a deal. The Gamester suggests the game be called a "draw" to be continued at another date. Frustrated, the Dr agrees, and shakes on it. Tegan tells him not to listen to anything the Gamester has to say! The Gamester tells him that everything he needs to know is in a "rumpled old thing." The Dr is furious, claiming that's no clue. Tegan is worried by all the conflict, and suggests they make for the old store across the way...the Dr exclaims "That's it!" They rush for the porch while the Gamester glares at Tegan. (Switch to *) They meet Ben, Stark and SweetiePie. Ben explain the situation to the Dr who suggests that there must be someway to end this without bloodshed... SweetiePie explains that is why they are trying to take the communications center. The group decides to go that way, when they are all knocked flat by the doors of the old store exploding from the inside out... # =Elder's Computer Center: Delmin, computer Delmin makes his way to the bottom of the building. The computer is talking to him the whole time, trying to convince him to stay, turning off lights and making it hard for him to leave. Delmin tries to talk sense to it, and distract it as he continues to the bottom. Finally he reaches a door that seems to be sealed strangely, and appears to have a warning that Delmin can't read..the computer cautions, I wouldn't do that if I were you...Delmin removes a few boards and finds a flashing button.. he pushes it and the door explodes outward. "Told you so" taunts the computer. The smoke settles, and Delmin is standing in the doorway. The ending: Everyone is surprised and happy to see Delmin, especially Tegan, who runs to hug him. He explains that he has found the Elder's Computer Center, and that it has been manipulated. Stark, SweetiePie and SlimeBall are astounded that it even exists. Delmin tells them that all they need to do is access the computer from here to spread the Elder's original message about leaving Mallsville and moving above. SweetiePie and Stark thank the Tardis crew and enter the building with the Master to broadcast the message. (The Master manages to escape, and leaves in his TARDS.) The Dr turns to face the Gamester, and is reminded they had a deal to meet again. The Timelords shake, and part company. Tegan reminds everyone that this adventure has turned out well... The town is saved, after all, and none of us were hurt in the process!! The Dr and companions walk back to the Tardis celebrating their victory... Set up for the next sim: All of a sudden, before Ben, Tegan, and Delmin can react, four Grotox Crew Pirates ambush the Doctor, throwing a Warp Hoop over his head. As the hoop falls, the Doctor appears to disintegrate. The three rush forward, but the hoop reaches the ground, and the Doctor is gone. [SET UP FOR DOMINION OF THE DALEKS]
